Parliamentary elections, 1930

Stärkste Partei wurde 1930 die Sozialdemokratische Partei (SDAP) mit 41 Prozent der gültigen Stimmen, danach kam die Christlichsoziale Partei mit unter 36 Prozent. Letztere kandidierte in Wien und Niederösterreich als ›Christlichsoziale Partei und Heimwehr‹, sonst als ›Christlichsoziale Partei‹. Zusätzlich kandidierte überall mit Ausnahme von Vorarlberg der Heimatblock, der in Niederösterreich ein durchschnittliches Ergebnis erreichte und insgesamt etwa 6 Prozent erzielte. Die Großdeutschen, die 1927 noch in einer Einheitsliste mit den Christlichsozialen kandidiert hatten, kandidierten nun als ›Nationaler Wirtschaftsblock und Landbund‹ unter der Führung von Johann Schober (daher auch ›Schober-Block‹); sie erreichten über 11 Prozent. Die Nationalsozialisten kamen auf 3 Prozent. Die regionalen Schwerpunkte sind aus den Karten erkennbar (es ist die unterschiedliche Skalierung für die beiden großen Parteien einerseits und die kleineren Parteien andererseits zu beachten). 

In 1930, the Social Democratic Party (SDAP) emerged as the strongest party with 41 per cent of the valid votes, followed by the Christian Social Party with just under 36 per cent. The latter stood as the ›Christian Social Party and Heimwehr‹ in Vienna and Lower Austria, and as the ›Christian Social Party‹ elsewhere. In addition, the Heimatblock stood as a candidate everywhere except Vorarlberg; it achieved an average result in Lower Austria and secured around 6 per cent overall. The Greater Germans, who in 1927 had still stood on a joint list with the Christian Socialists, now stood as the ›National Economic Block and Landbund‹ under the leadership of Johann Schober (hence also the ›Schober Block‹); they achieved over 11 per cent. The National Socialists secured 3 per cent. The regional strongholds are evident from the maps (note the different scales used for the two major parties on the one hand and the smaller parties on the other).
